1 Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind; for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,Forasmuch then as Christ suffered in the flesh, arm ye yourselves also with the same mind; for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;그러므로 그리스도께서 육체로 고난을 받으셨으니, 여러분도 같은 마음으로 무장하십시오. 육체로 고난을 받은 사람은 죄와 결별한 것입니다.
2 that you no longer should live the rest of your time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.that ye no longer should live the rest of your time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.그리하여 남은 생을 더 이상 사람의 정욕을 따라 살지 말고, 하나님의 뜻을 따라 살아야 합니다.
3 For we have spent enough of our past time doing the desire of the Gentiles, and having walked in lewdness, lusts, drunken binges, orgies, carousings, and abominable idolatries.For the time past may suffice to have wrought the desire of the Gentiles, and to have walked in lasciviousness, lusts, winebibbings, revellings, carousings, and abominable idolatries:우리가 지난날 이방 사람들이 즐겨 하던 일을 따라 음란과 정욕과 술 취함과 방탕한 잔치와 흥청거림과 역겨운 우상 숭배에 빠져 살았던 것으로 이미 충분합니다.
4 They think it is strange that you don’ t run with them into the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you.wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them into the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:이제 여러분이 그들과 함께 그런 방탕의 극치로 달려가지 않는 것을 그들은 이상하게 여기며 여러분을 비방합니다.
5 They will give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the living and the dead.그러나 그들은 산 사람과 죽은 사람을 심판하실 준비를 마치신 분께 그 행위를 낱낱이 아뢰어야 할 것입니다.
6 For to this end the Good News was preached even to the dead, that they might be judged indeed as men in the flesh, but live as to God in the spirit.For unto this end was the gospel preached even to the dead, that they might be judged indeed according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.이런 까닭에 죽은 사람들에게도 복음이 전해졌으니, 이는 그들이 육체로는 사람의 기준대로 심판을 받으나, 영으로는 하나님을 따라 살게 하려는 것입니다.
7 But the end of all things is near. Therefore be of sound mind, self-controlled, and sober in prayer.But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore of sound mind, and be sober unto prayer:모든 것의 마지막이 가까이 왔습니다. 그러므로 정신을 차리고 절제하여 기도에 깨어 있으십시오.
8 And above all things be earnest in your love among yourselves, for love covers a multitude of sins.above all things being fervent in your love among yourselves; for love covereth a multitude of sins:무엇보다도 서로 뜨겁게 사랑하십시오. 사랑은 허다한 죄를 덮어 주기 때문입니다.
9 Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.using hospitality one to another without murmuring:불평하지 말고 서로 손님을 후하게 대접하십시오.
10 As each has received a gift, employ it in serving one another, as good managers of the grace of God in its various forms.according as each hath received a gift, ministering it among yourselves, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God;각 사람은 받은 은사대로 하나님의 여러 가지 은혜를 맡은 선한 청지기로서 그것으로 서로 섬기십시오.
11 If anyone speaks, let it be as it were the very words of God. If anyone serves, let it be as of the strength which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.if any man speaketh, speaking as it were oracles of God; if any man ministereth, ministering as of the strength which God supplieth: that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, whose is the glory and the dominion for ever and ever. Amen.누가 말을 하려거든 하나님의 말씀을 전하듯 하고, 누가 섬기려거든 하나님께서 주시는 힘으로 하는 것처럼 하십시오. 이는 모든 일에서 예수 그리스도를 통하여 하나님께서 영광을 받으시게 하려는 것입니다. 영광과 권능이 영원무궁토록 그분께 있기를 빕니다. 아멘.
12 Beloved, don’ t be astonished at the fiery trial which has come upon you to test you, as though a strange thing happened to you.Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial among you, which cometh upon you to prove you, as though a strange thing happened unto you:사랑하는 여러분, 여러분을 시험하려고 닥쳐온 불 같은 시련을 이상한 일이 일어난 것처럼 놀라지 마십시오.
13 But because you are partakers of Christ’s sufferings, rejoice, that at the revelation of his glory you also may rejoice with exceeding joy.but insomuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings, rejoice; that at the revelation of his glory also ye may rejoice with exceeding joy.오히려 여러분이 그리스도의 고난에 참여하는 것이니 기뻐하십시오. 그리하면 그분의 영광이 나타날 때에 여러분도 넘치는 기쁨으로 즐거워하게 될 것입니다.
14 If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. On their part he is blasphemed, but on your part he is glorified.If ye are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are ye; because the Spirit of glory and the Spirit of God resteth upon you.여러분이 그리스도의 이름으로 모욕을 받으면 복이 있습니다. 영광의 영, 곧 하나님의 영이 여러분 위에 머무시기 때문입니다.
15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evil doer, or a meddler in other men’s matters.For let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evil-doer, or as a meddler in other men’s matters:여러분 가운데 누구도 살인자나 도둑이나 악을 행하는 자나 남의 일에 참견하는 자로 고난을 받지 않도록 하십시오.
16 But if one of you suffers for being a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God in this matter.but if a man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God in this name.그러나 그리스도인으로서 고난을 받는다면 부끄러워하지 말고, 도리어 그 이름으로 하나님께 영광을 돌리십시오.
17 For the time has come for judgment to begin with the household of God. If it begins first with us, what will happen to those who don’ t obey the Good News of God?For the time is come for judgment to begin at the house of God: and if it begin first at us, what shall be the end of them that obey not the gospel of God?이제 하나님의 집에서부터 심판이 시작될 때가 되었습니다. 심판이 우리에게서 먼저 시작된다면, 하나님의 복음에 순종하지 않는 자들의 마지막은 어떠하겠습니까?
18 “ If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will happen to the ungodly and the sinner?”And if the righteous is scarcely saved, where shall the ungodly and sinner appear?"의인도 겨우 구원을 받는다면, 경건하지 않은 자와 죄인은 어떻게 되겠습니까?"
19 Therefore let them also who suffer according to the will of God in doing good entrust their souls to him, as to a faithful Creator.Wherefore let them also that suffer according to the will of God commit their souls in well-doing unto a faithful Creator.그러므로 하나님의 뜻을 따라 고난을 받는 사람들은 선을 행하면서 자기 영혼을 신실하신 창조주께 맡기십시오.
