1 Therefore I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and who will also share in the glory that will be revealed:The elders therefore among you I exhort, who am a fellow-elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, who am also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:여러분 가운데 있는 장로들에게 내가 권합니다. 나도 함께 장로 된 사람이요, 그리스도께서 당하신 고난의 증인이며, 또한 앞으로 나타날 영광에 함께 참여할 사람으로서 권합니다.
2 shepherd the flock of God which is among you, exercising the oversight, not under compulsion, but voluntarily; not for dishonest gain, but willingly;Tend the flock of God which is among you, exercising the oversight, not of constraint, but willingly, according to the will of God; nor yet for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;여러분에게 맡겨진 하나님의 양 떼를 잘 치십시오. 그들을 돌보되, 억지로 하지 말고 자원하는 마음으로, 부정한 이익을 탐하지 말고 기꺼이 하십시오.
3 not as lording it over those entrusted to you, but making yourselves examples to the flock.neither as lording it over the charge allotted to you, but making yourselves ensamples to the flock.여러분에게 맡겨진 이들을 지배하려 하지 말고, 도리어 양 떼에게 본이 되십시오.
4 When the chief Shepherd is revealed, you will receive the crown of glory that doesn’ t fade away.And when the chief Shepherd shall be manifested, ye shall receive the crown of glory that fadeth not away.그리하면 목자장이 나타나실 때에 여러분은 시들지 않는 영광의 면류관을 받을 것입니다.
5 Likewise, you younger ones, be subject to the elder. Yes, all of you clothe yourselves with humility and subject yourselves to one another; for “ God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”Likewise, ye younger, be subject unto the elder. Yea, all of you gird yourselves with humility, to serve one another: for God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble.마찬가지로 젊은이들은 장로들에게 순복하십시오. 그리고 여러분 모두 서로에게 겸손으로 옷 입고 서로 복종하십시오. "하나님께서는 교만한 자를 물리치시고 겸손한 자에게는 은혜를 주십니다."
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time,Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time;그러므로 하나님의 능하신 손 아래에서 자신을 낮추십시오. 그리하면 때가 되어 그분이 여러분을 높이실 것입니다.
7 casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.casting all your anxiety upon him, because he careth for you.여러분의 모든 염려를 그분께 맡기십시오. 그분께서 여러분을 돌보시기 때문입니다.
8 Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.Be sober, be watchful: your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:정신을 차리고 절제하며 깨어 있으십시오. 여러분의 원수 마귀가 울부짖는 사자처럼 삼킬 자를 찾아 두루 다닙니다.
9 Withstand him steadfast in your faith, knowing that your brothers who are in the world are undergoing the same sufferings.whom withstand stedfast in your faith, knowing that the same sufferings are accomplished in your brethren who are in the world.믿음 안에 굳게 서서 그를 대적하십시오. 세상에 있는 여러분의 형제들도 똑같은 고난을 겪고 있음을 알아야 합니다.
10 But may the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.And the God of all grace, who called you unto his eternal glory in Christ, after that ye have suffered a little while, shall himself perfect, establish, strengthen you.그러나 모든 은혜의 하나님, 곧 그리스도 예수 안에서 여러분을 그분의 영원한 영광으로 부르신 분께서, 여러분이 잠시 고난을 받은 후에 친히 여러분을 온전하게 하시고, 굳건하게 하시며, 강하게 하시고, 든든히 세우실 것입니다.
11 To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.To him be the dominion for ever and ever. Amen.그분께 영광과 권능이 영원무궁하기를 빕니다. 아멘.

13 She who is in Babylon, chosen together with you, greets you. So does Mark, my son.She that is in Babylon, elect together with you, saluteth you; and so doth Mark my son.여러분과 함께 택하심을 받은, 바벨론에 있는 교회가 여러분에게 문안합니다. 또 내 아들 마가도 문안합니다.
