1 Don’t rebuke an older man, but exhort him as a father; the younger men as brothers;Rebuke not an elder, but exhort him as a father; the younger men as brethren:나이 많은 남자를 꾸짖지 말고 아버지에게 하듯 권면하며, 젊은 남자들은 형제처럼 대하십시오.
2 the elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, in all purity.the elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, in all purity.나이 많은 여자들은 어머니에게 하듯, 젊은 여자들은 온전히 깨끗한 마음으로 자매처럼 대하십시오.
3 Honor widows who are widows indeed.Honor widows that are widows indeed.참으로 의지할 데 없는 과부들을 존중하여 돌보십시오.
4 But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them learn first to show piety toward their own family and to repay their parents, for this is acceptable in the sight of God.But if any widow hath children or grandchildren, let them learn first to show piety towards their own family, and to requite their parents: for this is acceptable in the sight of God.그러나 어떤 과부에게 자녀나 손주가 있으면, 그들이 먼저 자기 집안에 경건을 나타내고 부모에게 받은 것을 갚는 법을 배우게 하십시오. 이것이 하나님 보시기에 받으실 만한 일입니다.
5 Now she who is a widow indeed and desolate, has her hope set on God and continues in petitions and prayers night and day.Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, hath her hope set on God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.참으로 의지할 데 없이 홀로 남은 과부는 하나님께 소망을 두고 밤낮으로 간구와 기도를 계속합니다.
6 But she who gives herself to pleasure is dead while she lives.But she that giveth herself to pleasure is dead while she liveth.그러나 향락에 빠져 사는 여자는 살아 있어도 죽은 것입니다.
7 Also command these things, that they may be without reproach.These things also command, that they may be without reproach.이것들을 또한 명하여, 그들이 책망받을 일이 없게 하십시오.
8 But if anyone doesn’ t provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.But if any provideth not for his own, and specially his own household, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever.그러나 누구든지 자기 친족, 특히 자기 집안 식구를 돌보지 않으면 믿음을 저버린 것이며 믿지 않는 사람보다 더 나쁩니다.
9 Let no one be enrolled as a widow under sixty years old, having been the wife of one man,Let none be enrolled as a widow under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man,과부 명부에 올릴 사람은 예순 살이 넘고 한 남편의 아내였던 사람으로 하십시오.
10 being approved by good works, if she has brought up children, if she has been hospitable to strangers, if she has washed the saints’ feet, if she has relieved the afflicted, and if she has diligently followed every good work.well reported of for good works; if she hath brought up children, if she hath used hospitality to strangers, if she hath washed the saints’ feet, if she hath relieved the afflicted, if she hath diligently followed every good work.곧 선한 일로 인정받은 사람, 자녀를 잘 길렀고, 나그네를 잘 대접했고, 성도들의 발을 씻겼고, 고난받는 이들을 도왔고, 모든 선한 일을 부지런히 따른 사람이어야 합니다.
11 But refuse younger widows, for when they have grown wanton against Christ, they desire to marry,But younger widows refuse: for when they have waxed wanton against Christ, they desire to marry;그러나 젊은 과부들은 명부에 받아들이지 마십시오. 그들이 그리스도를 거슬러 정욕에 끌리게 되면 시집가기를 원하여,
12 having condemnation, because they have rejected their first pledge.having condemnation, because they have rejected their first pledge.처음 한 서약을 저버렸으므로 정죄를 받게 됩니다.
13 Besides, they also learn to be idle, going about from house to house. Not only idle, but also gossips and busybodies, saying things which they ought not.And withal they learn also to be idle, going about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.게다가 그들은 게으름까지 배워 이 집 저 집 돌아다니며, 게으를 뿐 아니라 남의 말을 옮기고 일을 들쑤시며 해서는 안 될 말을 하게 됩니다.
14 I desire therefore that the younger widows marry, bear children, rule the household, and give no occasion to the adversary for insulting.I desire therefore that the younger widows marry, bear children, rule the household, give no occasion to the adversary for reviling:그러므로 나는 젊은 과부들이 시집가서 자녀를 낳고 집안을 다스려, 대적하는 자에게 비방할 기회를 주지 않기를 바랍니다.
15 For already some have turned away after Satan.for already some are turned aside after Satan.이미 어떤 이들은 돌이켜 사탄을 따라갔습니다.
16 If any man or woman who believes has widows, let them relieve them, and don’ t let the assembly be burdened, that it might relieve those who are widows indeed.If any woman that believeth hath widows, let her relieve them, and let not the church be burdened; that it may relieve them that are widows indeed.믿는 남자나 여자에게 과부 친척이 있으면 그가 그들을 도와주어, 교회가 짐을 지지 않고 참으로 의지할 데 없는 과부들을 도울 수 있게 하십시오.
17 Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and in teaching.Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and in teaching.잘 다스리는 장로들은 갑절의 존경을 받을 만한 사람으로 여기십시오. 특히 말씀과 가르치는 일에 수고하는 이들은 더욱 그렇습니다.
18 For the Scripture says, “ You shall not muzzle the ox when it treads out the grain.” And, “ The laborer is worthy of his wages.”For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox when he treadeth out the corn. And, The laborer is worthy of his hire.성경에 이르기를 "곡식을 밟아 떠는 소의 입에 망을 씌우지 말라" 하였고, 또 "일꾼이 자기 삯을 받는 것이 마땅하다" 하였습니다.
19 Don’t receive an accusation against an elder except at the word of two or three witnesses.Against an elder receive not an accusation, except at the mouth of two or three witnesses.장로에 대한 고발은 두세 증인의 말이 아니면 받지 마십시오.
20 Those who sin, reprove in the sight of all, that the rest also may be in fear.Them that sin reprove in the sight of all, that the rest also may be in fear.죄를 짓는 자들은 모든 사람 앞에서 꾸짖어, 나머지 사람들도 두려워하게 하십시오.
21 I command you in the sight of God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the chosen angels, that you observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing by partiality.I charge thee in the sight of God, and Christ Jesus, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing by partiality.나는 하나님과 그리스도 예수와 택하심을 받은 천사들 앞에서 그대에게 명합니다. 편견 없이 이것들을 지키며 아무것도 한쪽으로 치우치게 행하지 마십시오.
22 Lay hands hastily on no one. Don’t be a participant in other people’s sins. Keep yourself pure.Lay hands hastily on no man, neither be partaker of other men’s sins: keep thyself pure.아무에게나 성급하게 안수하지 말며, 다른 사람의 죄에 동참하지 마십시오. 그대 자신을 깨끗하게 지키십시오.
23 Be no longer a drinker of water only, but use a little wine for your stomach’s sake and your frequent infirmities.Be no longer a drinker of water, but use a little wine for thy stomach’s sake and thine often infirmities.이제부터는 물만 마시지 말고, 그대의 위장과 자주 앓는 병을 위하여 포도주를 조금씩 쓰십시오.
24 Some men’s sins are evident, preceding them to judgment, and some also follow later.Some men’s sins are evident, going before unto judgment; and some men also they follow after.어떤 사람들의 죄는 분명하게 드러나 심판을 향해 앞서 가고, 어떤 사람들의 죄는 뒤따라 나타납니다.
25 In the same way also there are good works that are obvious, and those that are otherwise can’ t be hidden.In like manner also there are good works that are evident; and such as are otherwise cannot be hid.이와 같이 선한 일도 분명하게 드러나며, 그렇지 않은 것이라도 숨겨질 수 없습니다.
