1 This is now, beloved, the second letter that I have written to you; and in both of them I stir up your sincere mind by reminding youThis is now, beloved, the second epistle that I write unto you; and in both of them I stir up your sincere mind by putting you in remembrance;사랑하는 여러분, 이것은 이제 내가 여러분에게 쓰는 두 번째 편지입니다. 나는 이 두 편지에서 여러분의 진실한 마음을 일깨워 기억하게 하려고 합니다.
2 that you should remember the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets and the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior,that ye should remember the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and the commandment of the Lord and Saviour through your apostles:곧 거룩한 선지자들이 전에 하신 말씀과 주님이시며 구주이신 분의 명령, 곧 우리 사도들이 전한 명령을 여러분이 기억하기를 바랍니다.
3 knowing this first, that in the last days mockers will come, walking after their own lustsknowing this first, that in the last days mockers shall come with mockery, walking after their own lusts,무엇보다 먼저 이것을 알아야 합니다. 마지막 날에 비웃는 자들이 와서 자기 욕심을 따라 살며,
4 and saying, “ Where is the promise of his coming? For, from the day that the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.”and saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for, from the day that the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation."그분이 오신다는 약속이 어디 있느냐? 조상들이 잠든 날부터 모든 것이 창조의 시작 때 그대로 계속되고 있지 않느냐" 하고 말할 것입니다.
5 For they willfully forget that there were heavens from of old, and an earth formed out of water and amid water by the word of God,For this they wilfully forget, that there were heavens from of old, and an earth compacted out of water and amidst water, by the word of God;그들은 이것을 일부러 잊으려 합니다. 곧 옛적부터 하늘이 있었고, 땅은 하나님의 말씀으로 물에서 나와 물 가운데 세워졌다는 사실을 말입니다.
6 by which means the world that existed then, being overflowed with water, perished.by which means the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:그리고 바로 그 물로 인해 그때의 세상은 물에 잠겨 멸망하였습니다.
7 But the heavens that exist now and the earth, by the same word have been stored up for fire, being reserved against the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.but the heavens that now are, and the earth, by the same word have been stored up for fire, being reserved against the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.그러나 지금의 하늘과 땅은 같은 말씀으로 불사르기 위해 보존되어, 경건하지 않은 자들이 심판받아 멸망할 날을 위해 간직되어 있습니다.
8 But don’t forget this one thing, beloved, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.But forget not this one thing, beloved, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.사랑하는 여러분, 이 한 가지를 잊지 마십시오. 주님께는 하루가 천 년 같고 천 년이 하루 같습니다.
9 The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but he is patient with us, not wishing that anyone should perish, but that all should come to repentance.The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some count slackness; but is longsuffering to you-ward, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.주님은 어떤 이들이 더디다고 여기는 것처럼 약속을 더디 이루시는 것이 아닙니다. 오히려 여러분을 향해 오래 참으시며, 아무도 멸망하지 않고 모두 회개에 이르기를 바라십니다.
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will be dissolved with fervent heat; and the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.But the day of the Lord will come as a thief; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall be dissolved with fervent heat, and the earth and the works that are therein shall be burned up.그러나 주님의 날은 밤에 도둑이 오듯이 임할 것입니다. 그날에 하늘은 큰 소리를 내며 사라지고, 만물의 요소는 뜨거운 불에 녹아 버리며, 땅과 그 안에 있는 모든 행위가 불타 버릴 것입니다.
11 Therefore, since all these things will be destroyed like this, what kind of people ought you to be in holy living and godliness,Seeing that these things are thus all to be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy living and godliness,이 모든 것이 이렇게 사라질 것이니, 여러분은 어떤 사람이 되어야 하겠습니까? 거룩한 삶과 경건함 가운데 살아야 합니다.
12 looking for and earnestly desiring the coming of the day of God, which will cause the burning heavens to be dissolved, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?looking for and earnestly desiring the coming of the day of God, by reason of which the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?하나님의 날이 오기를 기다리며 간절히 사모하십시오. 그날에 하늘은 불에 타 녹아 버리고, 만물의 요소는 뜨거운 불에 녹아내릴 것입니다.
13 But, according to his promise, we look for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.But, according to his promise, we look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.그러나 우리는 그분의 약속을 따라 의가 거하는 새 하늘과 새 땅을 기다립니다.
14 Therefore, beloved, seeing that you look for these things, be diligent to be found in peace, without defect and blameless in his sight.Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for these things, give diligence that ye may be found in peace, without spot and blameless in his sight.그러므로 사랑하는 여러분, 이런 것들을 기다리는 만큼, 흠도 없고 점도 없이 그분 앞에서 평안 가운데 발견되도록 힘쓰십시오.
15 Regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also, according to the wisdom given to him, wrote to you,And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also, according to the wisdom given to him, wrote unto you;그리고 우리 주님의 오래 참으심이 곧 구원임을 알아야 합니다. 우리의 사랑하는 형제 바울도 자기에게 주어진 지혜를 따라 여러분에게 이같이 썼습니다.
16 as also in all of his letters, speaking in them of these things. In those, there are some things that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unsettled twist, as they also do to the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; wherein are some things hard to be understood, which the ignorant and unstedfast wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.그는 모든 편지에서도 이런 것들을 말하였는데, 그 가운데 더러 이해하기 어려운 것들이 있습니다. 무지하고 마음이 굳건하지 못한 자들은 다른 성경들을 그렇게 하듯 이것도 억지로 비틀어 스스로 멸망에 이릅니다.
17 You therefore, beloved, knowing these things beforehand, beware, lest being carried away with the error of the wicked, you fall from your own steadfastness.Ye therefore, beloved, knowing these things beforehand, beware lest, being carried away with the error of the wicked, ye fall from your own stedfastness.그러므로 사랑하는 여러분, 여러분은 이것을 미리 알았으니, 악한 자들의 잘못에 휩쓸려 여러분의 굳건함에서 떨어지지 않도록 조심하십시오.
