1 I will stand at my watch and set myself on the ramparts, and will look out to see what he will say to me, and what I will answer concerning my complaint.I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will look forth to see what he will speak with me, and what I shall answer concerning my complaint.내가 나의 파수하는 곳에 서서 성벽 위에 자리를 잡고, 그분이 내게 무엇이라 말씀하실지, 내 호소에 대해 내가 무엇이라 대답해야 할지 지켜보리라.
2 Yahweh answered me, “ Write the vision, and make it plain on tablets, that he who runs may read it.And Jehovah answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tablets, that he may run that readeth it.여호와께서 내게 대답하셨다. "이 환상을 기록하되, 달려가면서도 읽을 수 있도록 판에 똑똑히 새겨라.
3 For the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hurries toward the end, and won’t prove false. Though it takes time, wait for it, because it will surely come. It won’t delay.For the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hasteth toward the end, and shall not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not delay.이 환상은 아직 정해진 때를 위한 것이며, 그 끝을 향해 서둘러 가고 거짓되지 않을 것이다. 비록 더디 이루어질지라도 그것을 기다려라. 반드시 올 것이며 지체하지 않을 것이다.
4 Behold, his soul is puffed up. It is not upright in him, but the righteous will live by his faith.Behold, his soul is puffed up, it is not upright in him; but the righteous shall live by his faith.보라, 그의 영혼은 교만하여 그 안에서 곧지 못하나, 의인은 그의 믿음으로 살리라.
5 Yes, moreover, wine is treacherous: an arrogant man who doesn’t stay at home, who enlarges his desire as Sheol; he is like death and can’t be satisfied, but gathers to himself all nations and heaps to himself all peoples.Yea, moreover, wine is treacherous, a haughty man, that keepeth not at home; who enlargeth his desire as Sheol, and he is as death, and cannot be satisfied, but gathereth unto him all nations, and heapeth unto him all peoples.참으로 더 나아가, 포도주는 사람을 속이는 것이라. 거만한 자는 제 집에 머물지 않고, 자기 욕망을 스올처럼 넓히며, 죽음과 같아서 만족할 줄 모르고, 모든 민족을 자기에게로 끌어모으며 모든 백성을 자기에게로 쌓아 들인다.
6 Won’t all these take up a parable against him, and a taunting proverb against him, and say, ‘ Woe to him who increases that which is not his, and who enriches himself by extortion! How long?’Shall not all these take up a parable against him, and a taunting proverb against him, and say, Woe to him that increaseth that which is not his! how long? and that ladeth himself with pledges!이 모든 사람이 그를 두고 비유를 들며 그를 조롱하는 속담을 지어 이렇게 말하지 않겠느냐? '자기 것이 아닌 것을 늘리고, 강탈로 자기를 부유하게 하는 자에게 화가 있으리라! 언제까지 그러겠느냐?'
7 Won’t your debtors rise up suddenly, and wake up those who make you tremble, and you will be their victim?Shall they not rise up suddenly that shall bite thee, and awake that shall vex thee, and thou shalt be for booty unto them?너에게 빚을 준 자들이 갑자기 일어나고, 너를 떨게 하던 자들이 깨어나, 네가 그들의 먹잇감이 되지 않겠느냐?
8 Because you have plundered many nations, all the remnant of the peoples will plunder you because of men’s blood, and for the violence done to the land, to the city and to all who dwell in it.Because thou hast plundered many nations, all the remnant of the peoples shall plunder thee, because of men’s blood, and for the violence done to the land, to the city and to all that dwell therein.네가 많은 민족을 약탈하였으니, 사람들의 피와 땅과 성읍과 그 안에 사는 모든 자에게 저지른 폭력 때문에, 남은 백성이 모두 너를 약탈하리라.
9 Woe to him who gets an evil gain for his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the hand of evil!Woe to him that getteth an evil gain for his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the hand of evil!자기 집에 악한 이익을 챙겨, 자기 보금자리를 높은 곳에 두고, 재앙의 손에서 벗어나려는 자에게 화가 있으리라!
10 You have devised shame to your house by cutting off many peoples, and have sinned against your soul.Thou hast devised shame to thy house, by cutting off many peoples, and hast sinned against thy soul.네가 많은 백성을 끊어 버림으로 네 집에 수치를 꾀하였으니, 네 영혼을 거슬러 죄를 지었도다.
11 For the stone will cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the woodwork will answer it.For the stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the timber shall answer it.담의 돌이 부르짖고, 목조의 들보가 그에 응답하리라.
12 Woe to him who builds a town with blood, and establishes a city by iniquity!Woe to him that buildeth a town with blood, and establisheth a city by iniquity!피로 성읍을 세우고 불의로 도시를 건설하는 자에게 화가 있으리라!
13 Behold, isn’t it from Yahweh of Armies that the peoples labor for the fire, and the nations weary themselves for vanity?Behold, is it not of Jehovah of hosts that the peoples labor for the fire, and the nations weary themselves for vanity?보라, 백성들이 불에 탈 것을 위해 수고하고, 민족들이 헛된 것을 위해 스스로 지치는 것이 만군의 여호와께로부터 된 일이 아니냐?
14 For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of Yahweh’s glory, as the waters cover the sea.For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of Jehovah, as the waters cover the sea.물이 바다를 덮음같이, 여호와의 영광을 아는 지식이 땅에 가득하리라.
15 “ Woe to him who gives his neighbor drink, pouring your inflaming wine until they are drunk, so that you may gaze at their naked bodies!Woe unto him that giveth his neighbor drink, to thee that addest thy venom, and makest him drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness!이웃에게 마실 것을 주되, 그들을 취하게 하려고 네 격분의 포도주를 부어, 그들의 벌거벗은 몸을 바라보려는 자에게 화가 있으리라!
16 You are filled with shame, and not glory. You will also drink and be exposed! The cup of Yahweh’s right hand will come around to you, and disgrace will cover your glory.Thou art filled with shame, and not glory: drink thou also, and be as one uncircumcised; the cup of Jehovah’s right hand shall come round unto thee, and foul shame shall be upon thy glory.너는 영광이 아니라 수치로 가득하리라. 너도 마시고 드러나게 되리라. 여호와의 오른손에 있는 잔이 네게 돌아오고, 치욕이 네 영광을 덮으리라.
17 For the violence done to Lebanon will overwhelm you, and the destruction of the animals will terrify you, because of men’s blood and for the violence done to the land, to every city and to those who dwell in them.For the violence done to Lebanon shall cover thee, and the destruction of the beasts, which made them afraid; because of men’s blood, and for the violence done to the land, to the city and to all that dwell therein.레바논에 저지른 폭력이 너를 압도하고, 짐승들을 두렵게 한 그 파괴가 너를 덮으리니, 이는 사람들의 피와 땅과 모든 성읍과 그 안에 사는 자들에게 저지른 폭력 때문이라.
18 “ What value does the engraved image have, that its maker has engraved it; the molten image, even the teacher of lies, that he who fashions its form trusts in it, to make mute idols?What profiteth the graven image, that the maker thereof hath graven it; the molten image, even the teacher of lies, that he that fashioneth its form trusteth therein, to make dumb idols?새긴 우상이 무슨 가치가 있느냐? 그것을 만든 자가 그것을 새겼으나, 부어 만든 우상은 거짓을 가르치는 자라. 그것을 빚은 자가 그것을 의지하여 말 못 하는 우상을 만들 뿐이로다.
19 Woe to him who says to the wood, ‘ Awake!’ or to the mute stone, ‘ Arise!’ Shall this teach? Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all within it.Woe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake; to the dumb stone, Arise! Shall this teach? Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in the midst of it.나무에게 '깨어나라!' 하고, 말 못 하는 돌에게 '일어나라!' 하는 자에게 화가 있으리라. 이것이 가르칠 수 있겠느냐? 보라, 그것은 금과 은으로 입혀졌으나, 그 안에는 호흡이 전혀 없도다.
20 But Yahweh is in his holy temple. Let all the earth be silent before him!”But Jehovah is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him.그러나 여호와께서는 그 거룩한 성전에 계시니, 온 땅은 그분 앞에서 잠잠할지어다!"
