1 Foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you not to obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was openly portrayed among you as crucified?O foolish Galatians, who did bewitch you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was openly set forth crucified?어리석은 갈라디아 사람들이여, 누가 여러분을 홀려 진리에 순종하지 못하게 하였습니까? 여러분의 눈앞에 예수 그리스도께서 십자가에 못 박히신 분으로 분명하게 제시되었는데 말입니다.
2 I just want to learn this from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by hearing of faith?This only would I learn from you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?나는 다만 이것 하나를 여러분에게 묻고자 합니다. 여러분이 성령을 받은 것은 율법의 행위로 된 것입니까, 아니면 믿음의 들음으로 된 것입니까?
3 Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now completed in the flesh?Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now perfected in the flesh?여러분이 그렇게도 어리석습니까? 성령으로 시작하고서 이제 와서 육체로 완성하려 합니까?
4 Did you suffer so many things in vain, if it is indeed in vain?Did ye suffer so many things in vain? if it be indeed in vain.여러분이 그토록 많은 일을 겪은 것이 헛된 일이었습니까? 정말 헛된 일이라면 말입니다.
5 He therefore who supplies the Spirit to you and does miracles among you, does he do it by the works of the law, or by hearing of faith?He therefore that supplieth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?그러므로 여러분에게 성령을 공급하시고 여러분 가운데서 기적을 행하시는 분께서, 그 일을 율법의 행위로 하십니까, 아니면 믿음의 들음으로 하십니까?
6 Even so, Abraham “ believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness.”Even as Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned unto him for righteousness.이는 아브라함이 "하나님을 믿으니 그것이 그에게 의로 여겨졌다"고 한 것과 같습니다.
7 Know therefore that those who are of faith are children of Abraham.Know therefore that they that are of faith, the same are sons of Abraham.그러므로 믿음에서 난 사람들, 바로 그들이 아브라함의 자손인 줄 아십시오.
8 The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the Good News beforehand to Abraham, saying, “ In you all the nations will be blessed.”And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all the nations be blessed.성경은 하나님께서 이방 사람들을 믿음으로 의롭다 하실 것을 미리 내다보고, 아브라함에게 복음을 미리 전하여 이르기를 "너로 말미암아 모든 민족이 복을 받으리라" 하였습니다.
9 So then, those who are of faith are blessed with the faithful Abraham.So then they that are of faith are blessed with the faithful Abraham.그러므로 믿음에서 난 사람들은 믿음의 사람 아브라함과 함께 복을 받습니다.
10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse. For it is written, “ Cursed is everyone who doesn’ t continue in all things that are written in the book of the law, to do them.”For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one who continueth not in all things that are written in the book of the law, to do them.율법의 행위에 속한 사람은 모두 저주 아래에 있습니다. 기록되기를 "율법 책에 기록된 모든 것을 항상 지켜 행하지 않는 자는 다 저주를 받으리라" 하였기 때문입니다.
11 Now that no man is justified by the law before God is evident, for, “ The righteous will live by faith.”Now that no man is justified by the law before God, is evident: for, The righteous shall live by faith;율법으로는 아무도 하나님 앞에서 의롭다 함을 얻지 못하는 것이 분명합니다. 이는 "의인은 믿음으로 살리라" 하였기 때문입니다.
12 The law is not of faith, but, “ The man who does them will live by them.”and the law is not of faith; but, He that doeth them shall live in them.율법은 믿음에서 난 것이 아닙니다. 오히려 "그것들을 행하는 사람은 그것들로 말미암아 살리라" 하였습니다.
13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us. For it is written, “ Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree,”Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us; for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:그리스도께서 우리를 위하여 저주가 되심으로 율법의 저주에서 우리를 속량하셨습니다. 기록되기를 "나무에 달린 자마다 저주를 받았다" 하였기 때문입니다.
14 that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.that upon the Gentiles might come the blessing of Abraham in Christ Jesus; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.이는 아브라함의 복이 그리스도 예수 안에서 이방 사람들에게 이르게 하고, 우리로 믿음을 통하여 약속하신 성령을 받게 하려는 것입니다.
15 Brothers, speaking of human terms, though it is only a man’s covenant, yet when it has been confirmed, no one makes it void or adds to it.Brethren, I speak after the manner of men: Though it be but a man’s covenant, yet when it hath been confirmed, no one maketh it void, or addeth thereto.형제들이여, 사람의 관례를 따라 말합니다. 비록 사람의 언약이라 할지라도 일단 확정된 것은 아무도 폐하거나 거기에 더하지 못합니다.
16 Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his offspring. He doesn’ t say, “ To descendants”, as of many, but as of one, “ To your offspring”, which is Christ.Now to Abraham were the promises spoken, and to his seed. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.그런데 약속들은 아브라함과 그의 씨에게 주어진 것입니다. 성경은 여럿을 가리키듯 "씨들에게"라 하지 않고, 한 사람을 가리키듯 "네 씨에게"라 하였으니, 그 씨는 곧 그리스도이십니다.
17 Now I say this: A covenant confirmed beforehand by God in Christ, the law, which came four hundred thirty years after, does not annul, so as to make the promise of no effect.Now this I say: A covenant confirmed beforehand by God, the law, which came four hundred and thirty years after, doth not disannul, so as to make the promise of none effect.내가 말하려는 것은 이것입니다. 하나님께서 그리스도 안에서 미리 확정하신 언약을, 사백삼십 년 후에 생긴 율법이 무효로 만들어 그 약속을 폐기할 수 없다는 것입니다.
18 For if the inheritance is of the law, it is no more of promise; but God has granted it to Abraham by promise.For if the inheritance is of the law, it is no more of promise: but God hath granted it to Abraham by promise.만일 그 유업이 율법에서 난 것이라면 더 이상 약속에서 난 것이 아닙니다. 그러나 하나님께서는 약속을 통하여 아브라함에게 그것을 베푸셨습니다.
19 Then why is there the law? It was added because of transgressions, until the offspring should come to whom the promise has been made. It was ordained through angels by the hand of a mediator.What then is the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise hath been made; and it was ordained through angels by the hand of a mediator.그러면 율법은 무엇입니까? 그것은 범죄 때문에 더하여진 것이며, 약속하신 그 씨가 오실 때까지 두신 것입니다. 그것은 천사들을 통하여 중보자의 손으로 제정되었습니다.
20 Now a mediator is not between one, but God is one.Now a mediator is not a mediator of one; but God is one.그런데 중보자는 한 편만을 위한 것이 아니지만, 하나님은 한 분이십니다.
21 Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could make alive, most certainly righteousness would have been of the law.Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could make alive, verily righteousness would have been of the law.그러면 율법이 하나님의 약속들과 반대됩니까? 결코 그렇지 않습니다! 만일 생명을 주실 수 있는 율법이 주어졌더라면, 의가 분명히 율법에서 났을 것입니다.
22 But the Scripture imprisoned all things under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.But the scripture shut up all things under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.그러나 성경은 모든 것을 죄 아래에 가두었으니, 이는 예수 그리스도를 믿는 믿음으로 말미암은 약속을 믿는 자들에게 주려는 것입니다.
23 But before faith came, we were kept in custody under the law, confined for the faith which should afterwards be revealed.But before faith came, we were kept in ward under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.믿음이 오기 전에 우리는 율법 아래에 갇혀, 장차 나타날 믿음을 위하여 매여 있었습니다.
24 So that the law has become our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.So that the law is become our tutor to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.그래서 율법은 우리를 그리스도께로 인도하는 우리의 후견인이 되어, 우리로 믿음으로 의롭다 함을 얻게 하였습니다.
25 But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.But now that faith is come, we are no longer under a tutor.그러나 이제 믿음이 왔으니 우리는 더 이상 후견인 아래에 있지 않습니다.
26 For you are all children of God, through faith in Christ Jesus.For ye are all sons of God, through faith, in Christ Jesus.여러분은 다 그리스도 예수를 믿는 믿음으로 말미암아 하나님의 자녀들입니다.
27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.For as many of you as were baptized into Christ did put on Christ.누구든지 그리스도와 합하여 세례를 받은 사람은 다 그리스도로 옷 입었습니다.
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.There can be neither Jew nor Greek, there can be neither bond nor free, there can be no male and female; for ye all are one man in Christ Jesus.유대 사람이나 그리스 사람이나, 종이나 자유인이나, 남자나 여자나 차별이 없으니, 여러분은 다 그리스도 예수 안에서 하나이기 때문입니다.
29 If you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring and heirs according to promise.And if ye are Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, heirs according to promise.여러분이 그리스도께 속한 사람이라면, 곧 아브라함의 씨요 약속을 따라 정해진 상속자들입니다.
