1 Then after a period of fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus also with me.Then after the space of fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus also with me.그로부터 십사 년이 지난 뒤에 나는 바나바와 함께, 디도도 데리고 다시 예루살렘으로 올라갔습니다.
2 I went up by revelation, and I laid before them the Good News which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately before those who were respected, for fear that I might be running, or had run, in vain.And I went up by revelation; and I laid before them the gospel which I preach among the Gentiles but privately before them who were of repute, lest by any means I should be running, or had run, in vain.내가 올라간 것은 계시를 따른 것이었습니다. 나는 이방 사람들 가운데서 전하는 복음을 그들 앞에 내놓았는데, 특별히 존경받는 이들에게는 따로 만나 그렇게 했습니다. 혹시라도 내가 지금 달려가는 일이나 이미 달려온 일이 헛되지 않을까 염려했기 때문입니다.

4 This was because of the false brothers secretly brought in, who stole in to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage,and that because of the false brethren privily brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:이 일은 몰래 끼어든 거짓 형제들 때문이었습니다. 그들은 그리스도 예수 안에서 우리가 누리는 자유를 엿보려고 가만히 들어왔고, 우리를 다시 종으로 얽매려 했습니다.
5 to whom we gave no place in the way of subjection, not for an hour, that the truth of the Good News might continue with you.to whom we gave place in the way of subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.그러나 우리는 단 한순간도 그들에게 굴복하여 자리를 내주지 않았습니다. 복음의 진리가 여러분 가운데 변함없이 머물게 하기 위해서였습니다.
6 But from those who were reputed to be important— whatever they were, it makes no difference to me; God doesn’ t show partiality to man — they, I say, who were respected imparted nothing to me,But from those who were reputed to be somewhat ( whatsoever they were, it maketh no matter to me: God accepteth not man’s person )— they, I say, who were of repute imparted nothing to me:그리고 중요하다고 여겨지던 이들로 말하자면 — 그들이 어떤 사람이었든 나에게는 아무 상관이 없습니다. 하나님은 사람을 겉모습으로 차별하지 않으시기 때문입니다 — 그 존경받던 이들은 내게 더해 준 것이 아무것도 없었습니다.
7 but to the contrary, when they saw that I had been entrusted with the Good News for the uncircumcised, even as Peter with the Good News for the circumcised —but contrariwise, when they saw that I had been intrusted with the gospel of the uncircumcision, even as Peter with the gospel of the circumcision도리어 그들은 베드로가 할례받은 사람들을 위한 복음을 맡은 것처럼, 내가 할례받지 않은 사람들을 위한 복음을 맡은 것을 보았습니다.
8 for he who worked through Peter in the apostleship with the circumcised also worked through me with the Gentiles —( for he that wrought for Peter unto the apostleship of the circumcision wrought for me also unto the Gentiles );(할례받은 사람들에게 베드로를 사도로 세우신 분이 또한 나를 이방 사람들에게 세우셨기 때문입니다.)
9 and when they perceived the grace that was given to me, James and Cephas and John, those who were reputed to be pillars, gave to Barnabas and me the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcision.and when they perceived the grace that was given unto me, James and Cephas and John, they who were reputed to be pillars, gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship, that we should go unto the Gentiles, and they unto the circumcision;그리고 기둥으로 여겨지던 야고보와 게바와 요한은 내게 주어진 은혜를 알아보고, 나와 바나바에게 친교의 오른손을 내밀었습니다. 우리는 이방 사람들에게로, 그들은 할례받은 사람들에게로 가기로 한 것입니다.
10 They only asked us to remember the poor — which very thing I was also zealous to do.only they would that we should remember the poor; which very thing I was also zealous to do.그들이 우리에게 부탁한 것은 오직 가난한 사람들을 기억해 달라는 것뿐이었는데, 바로 그 일은 나도 본래 힘써 해 오던 것입니다.
11 But when Peter came to Antioch, I resisted him to his face, because he stood condemned.But when Cephas came to Antioch, I resisted him to the face, because he stood condemned.그러나 베드로가 안디옥에 왔을 때, 나는 그를 마주하여 책망했습니다. 그가 책망받아 마땅한 일을 했기 때문입니다.
12 For before some people came from James, he ate with the Gentiles. But when they came, he drew back and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision.For before that certain came from James, he ate with the Gentiles; but when they came, he drew back and separated himself, fearing them that were of the circumcision.야고보에게서 어떤 사람들이 오기 전에는 그가 이방 사람들과 함께 음식을 먹었습니다. 그러나 그들이 오자, 그는 할례받은 사람들을 두려워하여 뒤로 물러나 자기를 따로 떼어 놓았습니다.
13 And the rest of the Jews joined him in his hypocrisy, so that even Barnabas was carried away with their hypocrisy.And the rest of the Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that even Barnabas was carried away with their dissimulation.그러자 나머지 유대 사람들도 그와 함께 그 위선에 휩쓸렸고, 심지어 바나바까지 그들의 위선에 끌려가고 말았습니다.
14 But when I saw that they didn’ t walk uprightly according to the truth of the Good News, I said to Peter before them all, “ If you, being a Jew, live as the Gentiles do, and not as the Jews do, why do you compel the Gentiles to live as the Jews do?But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Cephas before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest as do the Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, how compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?그러나 그들이 복음의 진리를 따라 바르게 걷지 않는 것을 보고, 나는 모두가 보는 앞에서 베드로에게 말했습니다. "당신은 유대 사람이면서도 유대 사람처럼 살지 않고 이방 사람처럼 살면서, 어찌하여 이방 사람들에게는 유대 사람처럼 살라고 강요합니까?
15 “ We, being Jews by nature and not Gentile sinners,We being Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles,우리는 본래 유대 사람으로 태어났고, 이방 죄인이 아닙니다.
16 yet knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because no flesh will be justified by the works of the law.yet knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we believed on Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ, and not by the works of the law: because by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.그러나 사람이 율법의 행위로 의롭게 되는 것이 아니라 예수 그리스도를 믿는 믿음으로 의롭게 된다는 것을 우리는 압니다. 그래서 우리도 그리스도 예수를 믿었으니, 율법의 행위가 아니라 그리스도를 믿는 믿음으로 의롭게 되려는 것입니다. 율법의 행위로는 아무도 의롭게 되지 못하기 때문입니다.
17 But if while we sought to be justified in Christ, we ourselves also were found sinners, is Christ a servant of sin? Certainly not!But if, while we sought to be justified in Christ, we ourselves also were found sinners, is Christ a minister of sin? God forbid.그런데 우리가 그리스도 안에서 의롭게 되려다가 우리 자신도 죄인으로 드러난다면, 그리스도가 죄를 섬기는 분이라는 말입니까? 결코 그럴 수 없습니다!
18 For if I build up again those things which I destroyed, I prove myself a law-breaker.For if I build up again those things which I destroyed, I prove myself a transgressor.내가 헐어 버린 것을 다시 세운다면, 나는 스스로 율법을 어기는 자임을 드러내는 것입니다.
19 For I through the law died to the law, that I might live to God.For I through the law died unto the law, that I might live unto God.나는 율법을 통하여 율법에 대하여 죽었으니, 이는 하나님께 대하여 살려는 것입니다.
20 I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. That life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself up for me.I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I that live, but Christ liveth in me: and that life which I now live in the flesh I live in faith, the faith which is in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me.나는 그리스도와 함께 십자가에 못 박혔습니다. 이제는 더 이상 내가 사는 것이 아니라 그리스도께서 내 안에 사시는 것입니다. 지금 내가 육신 안에서 사는 삶은, 나를 사랑하셔서 나를 위해 자기 자신을 내어 주신 하나님의 아들을 믿는 믿음으로 사는 것입니다.
21 I don’ t reject the grace of God. For if righteousness is through the law, then Christ died for nothing!”I do not make void the grace of God: for if righteousness is through the law, then Christ died for nought.나는 하나님의 은혜를 헛되게 하지 않습니다. 만일 의가 율법을 통하여 오는 것이라면, 그리스도께서는 헛되이 죽으신 것입니다!"
