1 Paul and Timothy, servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, with the overseers and servants:Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, to all the saints in Christ Jesus that are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:그리스도 예수의 종인 바울과 디모데는, 빌립보에 있는 그리스도 예수 안의 모든 성도와 감독들과 봉사자들에게 이 편지를 씁니다.
2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.우리 아버지 하나님과 주 예수 그리스도께로부터 은혜와 평강이 여러분에게 있기를 바랍니다.
3 I thank my God whenever I remember you,I thank my God upon all my remembrance of you,나는 여러분을 기억할 때마다 나의 하나님께 감사를 드립니다.
4 always in every request of mine on behalf of you all, making my requests with joy,always in every supplication of mine on behalf of you all making my supplication with joy,언제나 나의 모든 간구 가운데 여러분 모두를 위해 기쁨으로 간구합니다.
5 for your partnership in furtherance of the Good News from the first day until now;for your fellowship in furtherance of the gospel from the first day until now;이는 여러분이 첫날부터 지금까지 복음을 전하는 일에 함께 동참해 왔기 때문입니다.
6 being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ:여러분 안에서 선한 일을 시작하신 분이 예수 그리스도의 날까지 그것을 완성하실 것을 나는 확신합니다.
7 It is even right for me to think this way on behalf of all of you, because I have you in my heart, because both in my bonds and in the defense and confirmation of the Good News, you all are partakers with me of grace.even as it is right for me to be thus minded on behalf of you all, because I have you in my heart, inasmuch as, both in my bonds and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers with me of grace.내가 여러분 모두를 두고 이렇게 생각하는 것은 마땅한 일입니다. 이는 내가 여러분을 내 마음에 품고 있고, 또 내가 갇혀 있을 때나 복음을 변호하고 굳게 세울 때나 여러분 모두가 나와 함께 은혜에 참여한 사람들이기 때문입니다.
8 For God is my witness, how I long after all of you in the tender mercies of Christ Jesus.For God is my witness, how I long after you all in the tender mercies of Christ Jesus.내가 그리스도 예수의 깊은 긍휼로 여러분 모두를 얼마나 사모하는지, 하나님께서 나의 증인이 되십니다.
9 This I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and all discernment,And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and all discernment;내가 기도하는 것은 이것입니다. 곧 여러분의 사랑이 지식과 모든 분별력 안에서 더욱더 풍성해지는 것입니다.
10 so that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense to the day of Christ,so that ye may approve the things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and void of offence unto the day of Christ;그리하여 여러분이 가장 좋은 것을 분별하고, 그리스도의 날까지 진실하고 흠 없는 사람이 되기를 바랍니다.
11 being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are through Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.또 예수 그리스도로 말미암는 의의 열매로 가득 차서, 하나님께 영광과 찬송을 돌리게 되기를 바랍니다.
12 Now I desire to have you know, brothers, that the things which happened to me have turned out rather to the progress of the Good News,Now I would have you know, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the progress of the gospel;형제들이여, 나는 여러분이 알기를 바랍니다. 내게 일어난 일들이 오히려 복음의 진전에 도움이 되었습니다.
13 so that it became evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my bonds are in Christ,so that my bonds became manifest in Christ throughout the whole prætorian guard, and to all the rest;그래서 내가 그리스도 때문에 갇혔다는 사실이 온 친위대와 그 밖의 모든 사람에게 분명히 드러나게 되었습니다.
14 and that most of the brothers in the Lord, being confident through my bonds, are more abundantly bold to speak the word of God without fear.and that most of the brethren in the Lord, being confident through my bonds, are more abundantly bold to speak the word of God without fear.또 주 안에 있는 형제들 가운데 대다수가 내가 갇힌 것으로 인해 확신을 얻어, 더욱 담대하게 두려움 없이 하나님의 말씀을 전하게 되었습니다.
15 Some indeed preach Christ even out of envy and strife, and some also out of good will.Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:어떤 이들은 시기와 다툼으로 그리스도를 전파하기도 하고, 어떤 이들은 선한 뜻으로 전파하기도 합니다.
16 The former insincerely preach Christ from selfish ambition, thinking that they add affliction to my chains;the one do it of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel;앞의 사람들은 진실하지 못한 마음으로, 이기적인 야망에서 그리스도를 전파하며, 내가 갇힌 데에 괴로움을 더하려고 생각합니다.
17 but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the Good News.but the other proclaim Christ of faction, not sincerely, thinking to raise up affliction for me in my bonds.그러나 뒤의 사람들은 내가 복음을 변호하기 위해 세움 받은 줄을 알고 사랑으로 그리합니다.
18 What does it matter? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed. I rejoice in this, yes, and will rejoice.What then? only that in every way, whether in pretence or in truth, Christ is proclaimed; and therein I rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.그러나 그것이 무슨 상관이 있겠습니까? 거짓으로 하든 참으로 하든 어떤 방식으로든 그리스도가 전파되니, 나는 이것으로 기뻐합니다. 그렇습니다, 앞으로도 기뻐할 것입니다.
19 For I know that this will turn out to my salvation through your prayers and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,For I know that this shall turn out to my salvation, through your supplication and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,이는 여러분의 간구와 예수 그리스도의 영의 도우심으로, 이 일이 나의 구원에 이르게 될 줄을 내가 알기 때문입니다.
20 according to my earnest expectation and hope, that I will in no way be disappointed, but with all boldness, as always, now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death.according to my earnest expectation and hope, that in nothing shall I be put to shame, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether by life, or by death.나의 간절한 기대와 소망은, 내가 어떤 일에도 부끄러움을 당하지 않고, 언제나처럼 지금도 온전한 담대함으로 살든지 죽든지 나의 몸에서 그리스도가 높임을 받으시는 것입니다.
21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.내게는 사는 것이 그리스도이며 죽는 것이 유익입니다.
22 But if I live on in the flesh, this will bring fruit from my work; yet I don’ t know what I will choose.But if to live in the flesh,— if this shall bring fruit from my work, then what I shall choose I know not.그러나 내가 육신으로 계속 살게 된다면, 이것은 나의 수고에서 열매를 맺게 할 것입니다. 그러니 나는 무엇을 택해야 할지 알지 못합니다.
23 But I am hard pressed between the two, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better.But I am in a strait betwixt the two, having the desire to depart and be with Christ; for it is very far better:나는 이 둘 사이에 끼어 있습니다. 떠나서 그리스도와 함께 있고 싶은 마음이 있으니, 그것이 훨씬 더 좋습니다.
24 Yet to remain in the flesh is more needful for your sake.yet to abide in the flesh is more needful for your sake.그러나 내가 육신에 머무는 것이 여러분을 위해서는 더 필요합니다.
25 Having this confidence, I know that I will remain, yes, and remain with you all for your progress and joy in the faith,And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide, yea, and abide with you all, for your progress and joy in the faith;나는 이것을 확신하기에, 내가 머무를 것이며, 여러분 모두와 함께 머물러 여러분의 믿음의 진보와 기쁨을 위해 있을 줄을 압니다.
26 that your boasting may abound in Christ Jesus in me through my presence with you again.that your glorying may abound in Christ Jesus in me through my presence with you again.그리하여 내가 다시 여러분에게 가서 함께 있음으로 인해, 여러분이 그리스도 예수 안에서 나로 말미암아 더욱 자랑하게 될 것입니다.
27 Only let your way of life be worthy of the Good News of Christ, that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your state, that you stand firm in one spirit, with one soul striving for the faith of the Good News;Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ: that, whether I come and see you or be absent, I may hear of your state, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one soul striving for the faith of the gospel;다만 여러분은 그리스도의 복음에 합당하게 생활하십시오. 그리하여 내가 가서 여러분을 보든지 떠나 있든지, 여러분이 한 영 안에 굳게 서서 한마음으로 복음의 믿음을 위해 함께 힘쓴다는 소식을 듣게 되기를 바랍니다.
28 and in nothing frightened by the adversaries, which is for them a proof of destruction, but to you of salvation, and that from God.and in nothing affrighted by the adversaries: which is for them an evident token of perdition, but of your salvation, and that from God;또 어떤 일에도 대적하는 자들 때문에 두려워하지 마십시오. 이것이 그들에게는 멸망의 증거가 되지만, 여러분에게는 구원의 증거가 되며, 이는 하나님께로부터 온 것입니다.
29 Because it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in him, but also to suffer on his behalf,because to you it hath been granted in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer in his behalf:이는 여러분이 그리스도를 위해 그분을 믿을 뿐만 아니라 그분을 위해 고난도 받도록 은혜로 허락받았기 때문입니다.
30 having the same conflict which you saw in me and now hear is in me.having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me.여러분은 내게서 본 것과 같은 싸움, 곧 지금도 내게 있다고 듣고 있는 그 싸움을 똑같이 겪고 있습니다.
