1 The vision of Obadiah. This is what the Lord Yahweh says about Edom. We have heard news from Yahweh, and an ambassador is sent among the nations, saying, “ Arise, and let’s rise up against her in battle.The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord Jehovah concerning Edom: We have heard tidings from Jehovah, and an ambassador is sent among the nations, saying, Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle.오바댜가 본 환상이다. 주 여호와께서 에돔을 두고 이렇게 말씀하신다. 우리는 여호와께로부터 소식을 들었다. 한 사신이 여러 나라 가운데로 보내져 "자, 일어나라. 우리가 일어나 에돔을 치러 싸우러 가자" 하고 외친다.
2 Behold, I have made you small among the nations. You are greatly despised.Behold, I have made thee small among the nations: thou art greatly despised.보라, 내가 너를 여러 나라 가운데서 작게 만들었으니, 너는 크게 멸시를 당할 것이다.
3 The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who dwell in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high, who says in his heart, ‘ Who will bring me down to the ground?’The pride of thy heart hath deceived thee, O thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?바위 틈에 거하며 높은 곳에 자리 잡고, 마음속으로 "누가 나를 땅으로 끌어내리겠느냐" 하고 말하는 너여, 네 마음의 교만이 너를 속였다.
4 Though you mount on high as the eagle, and though your nest is set among the stars, I will bring you down from there,” says Yahweh.Though thou mount on high as the eagle, and though thy nest be set among the stars, I will bring thee down from thence, saith Jehovah.네가 독수리처럼 높이 솟아오르고 별들 사이에 네 둥지를 둔다 해도, 내가 거기서 너를 끌어내리겠다. 여호와의 말씀이다.
5 “If thieves came to you, if robbers by night —oh, what disaster awaits you —wouldn’t they only steal until they had enough? If grape pickers came to you, wouldn’t they leave some gleaning grapes?If thieves came to thee, if robbers by night (how art thou cut off!), would they not steal only till they had enough? if grape-gatherers came to thee, would they not leave some gleaning grapes?도둑이 너에게 들거나 밤에 강도가 든다면 — 아, 네게 닥칠 재앙이여 — 그들도 만족할 만큼만 훔치지 않겠느냐? 포도를 따는 사람들이 너에게 온다면, 그들도 이삭 줍는 포도 몇 송이는 남기지 않겠느냐?
6 How Esau will be ransacked! How his hidden treasures are sought out!How are the things of Esau searched! how are his hidden treasures sought out!에서가 얼마나 샅샅이 약탈을 당하는가! 그가 감추어 둔 보물들이 얼마나 낱낱이 뒤져지는가!
7 All the men of your alliance have brought you on your way, even to the border. The men who were at peace with you have deceived you, and prevailed against you. Friends who eat your bread lay a snare under you. There is no understanding in him.”All the men of thy confederacy have brought thee on thy way, even to the border: the men that were at peace with thee have deceived thee, and prevailed against thee; they that eat thy bread lay a snare under thee: there is no understanding in him.너와 동맹한 모든 사람이 너를 국경까지 내쫓았고, 너와 화평하던 자들이 너를 속이고 너를 이겼다. 네 빵을 먹던 친구들이 네 발밑에 덫을 놓았으나, 그에게는 깨달음이 없다.
8 “Won’t I in that day”, says Yahweh, “destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of the mountain of Esau?Shall I not in that day, saith Jehovah, destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of the mount of Esau?여호와께서 말씀하신다. 그 날에 내가 에돔에서 지혜로운 자들을 멸하고, 에서의 산에서 명철을 없애지 않겠느냐?
9 Your mighty men, Teman, will be dismayed, to the end that everyone may be cut off from the mountain of Esau by slaughter.And thy mighty men, O Teman, shall be dismayed, to the end that every one may be cut off from the mount of Esau by slaughter.데만아, 네 용사들이 낙담할 것이니, 마침내 에서의 산에서 모든 사람이 살육으로 끊어질 것이다.
10 For the violence done to your brother Jacob, shame will cover you, and you will be cut off forever.For the violence done to thy brother Jacob, shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.네 형제 야곱에게 행한 폭력 때문에 수치가 너를 덮을 것이며, 너는 영원히 끊어질 것이다.
11 In the day that you stood on the other side, in the day that strangers carried away his substance and foreigners entered into his gates and cast lots for Jerusalem, even you were like one of them.In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that strangers carried away his substance, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou wast as one of them.네가 멀찍이 서서 구경하던 날, 곧 낯선 자들이 그의 재물을 빼앗아 가고 이방 사람들이 그의 성문으로 들어가 예루살렘을 두고 제비를 뽑던 그 날에, 너도 그들 가운데 하나와 같았다.
12 But don’t look down on your brother in the day of his disaster, and don’t rejoice over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction. Don’t speak proudly in the day of distress.But look not thou on the day of thy brother in the day of his disaster, and rejoice not over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither speak proudly in the day of distress.그러나 너는 네 형제가 재앙을 당하는 날에 그를 깔보지 말았어야 했고, 유다 자손이 멸망하는 날에 그들을 두고 기뻐하지 말았어야 했으며, 환난의 날에 거만하게 말하지 말았어야 했다.
13 Don’t enter into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity. Don’t look down on their affliction in the day of their calamity, neither seize their wealth on the day of their calamity.Enter not into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity; yea, look not thou on their affliction in the day of their calamity, neither lay ye hands on their substance in the day of their calamity.내 백성이 재난을 당하는 날에 그들의 성문으로 들어가지 말고, 그들이 재난을 당하는 날에 그들의 고난을 깔보지 말며, 그들이 재난을 당하는 날에 그들의 재물에 손을 대지 말았어야 했다.
14 Don’t stand in the crossroads to cut off those of his who escape. Don’t deliver up those of his who remain in the day of distress.And stand thou not in the crossway, to cut off those of his that escape; and deliver not up those of his that remain in the day of distress.갈림길에 서서 도망하는 자들을 베어 죽이지 말고, 환난의 날에 살아남은 자들을 넘겨주지 말았어야 했다.
15 For the day of Yahweh is near all the nations! As you have done, it will be done to you. Your deeds will return upon your own head.For the day of Jehovah is near upon all the nations: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee; thy dealing shall return upon thine own head.여호와의 날이 모든 나라에 가까이 왔다! 네가 행한 대로 너도 당할 것이니, 네 행위가 네 머리 위로 되돌아올 것이다.
16 For as you have drunk on my holy mountain, so all the nations will drink continually. Yes, they will drink, swallow down, and will be as though they had not been.For as ye have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the nations drink continually; yea, they shall drink, and swallow down, and shall be as though they had not been.너희가 내 거룩한 산에서 마신 것처럼, 모든 나라가 끊임없이 마실 것이다. 참으로 그들이 마시고 또 들이켜서, 마치 본래 없었던 자들처럼 될 것이다.
17 But in Mount Zion, there will be those who escape, and it will be holy. The house of Jacob will possess their possessions.But in mount Zion there shall be those that escape, and it shall be holy; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.그러나 시온 산에는 피한 자들이 있을 것이며, 그곳은 거룩할 것이다. 야곱의 집은 그들의 소유를 되찾아 차지할 것이다.
18 The house of Jacob will be a fire, the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble. They will burn among them and devour them. There will not be any remaining to the house of Esau.” Indeed, Yahweh has spoken.And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall burn among them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining to the house of Esau; for Jehovah hath spoken it.야곱의 집은 불이 되고, 요셉의 집은 불꽃이 되며, 에서의 집은 지푸라기가 될 것이다. 그들이 에서의 집 가운데서 타올라 그들을 삼키리니, 에서의 집에는 살아남는 자가 하나도 없을 것이다. 참으로 여호와께서 말씀하셨다.
19 Those of the South will possess the mountain of Esau, and those of the lowland, the Philistines. They will possess the field of Ephraim, and the field of Samaria. Benjamin will possess Gilead.And they of the South shall possess the mount of Esau, and they of the lowland the Philistines; and they shall possess the field of Ephraim, and the field of Samaria; and Benjamin shall possess Gilead.남방 사람들은 에서의 산을 차지하고, 평지 사람들은 블레셋을 차지할 것이다. 그들이 에브라임의 들과 사마리아의 들을 차지하며, 베냐민은 길르앗을 차지할 것이다.
20 The captives of this army of the children of Israel, who are among the Canaanites, will possess even to Zarephath; and the captives of Jerusalem, who are in Sepharad, will possess the cities of the Negev.And the captives of this host of the children of Israel, that are among the Canaanites, shall possess even unto Zarephath; and the captives of Jerusalem, that are in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the South.이스라엘 자손의 이 군대 가운데 사로잡혀 가나안 사람들 가운데 있던 자들은 사르밧까지 차지하고, 스바랏에 있는 예루살렘의 포로들은 네겝의 성읍들을 차지할 것이다.
21 Saviors will go up on Mount Zion to judge the mountains of Esau, and the kingdom will be Yahweh’s.And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be Jehovah’s.구원자들이 시온 산에 올라가 에서의 산을 심판할 것이며, 나라가 여호와의 것이 될 것이다.
