1 Finally then, brothers, we beg and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, that you abound more and more.Finally then, brethren, we beseech and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that, as ye received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, even as ye do walk,— that ye abound more and more.끝으로 형제들이여, 우리가 주 예수 안에서 여러분에게 부탁하고 권면합니다. 여러분이 마땅히 어떻게 행하며 하나님을 기쁘시게 해야 하는지를 우리에게서 배운 그대로, 더욱더 그렇게 행하기를 바랍니다.
2 For you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus.For ye know what charge we gave you through the Lord Jesus.우리가 주 예수를 통하여 여러분에게 어떤 명령들을 주었는지 여러분이 알고 있기 때문입니다.
3 For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality,For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye abstain from fornication;하나님의 뜻은 바로 이것이니, 곧 여러분이 거룩해지는 것입니다. 그러므로 여러분은 음행을 멀리하십시오.
4 that each one of you know how to control his own body in sanctification and honor,that each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor,여러분 각 사람은 자기 몸을 거룩함과 존귀함으로 다스릴 줄을 알아야 합니다.
5 not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who don’ t know God,not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who know not God;하나님을 알지 못하는 이방 사람들처럼 정욕의 욕망에 빠져서는 안 됩니다.
6 that no one should take advantage of and wrong a brother or sister in this matter; because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as also we forewarned you and testified.that no man transgress, and wrong his brother in the matter: because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as also we forewarned you and testified.또한 이 일에 있어서 아무도 자기 형제나 자매를 침해하거나 부당하게 대해서는 안 됩니다. 우리가 전에 여러분에게 미리 일러주고 엄히 증언한 대로, 주께서는 이 모든 일에 보응하시는 분이기 때문입니다.
7 For God called us not for uncleanness, but in sanctification.For God called us not for uncleanness, but in sanctification.하나님께서 우리를 부르신 것은 더러움을 위해서가 아니라 거룩함을 위해서입니다.
8 Therefore he who rejects this doesn’ t reject man, but God, who has also given his Holy Spirit to you.Therefore he that rejecteth, rejecteth not man, but God, who giveth his Holy Spirit unto you.그러므로 이것을 저버리는 사람은 사람을 저버리는 것이 아니라, 여러분에게 자신의 성령을 주신 하나님을 저버리는 것입니다.
9 But concerning brotherly love, you have no need that one write to you. For you yourselves are taught by God to love one another,But concerning love of the brethren ye have no need that one write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another;형제 사랑에 관하여는 여러분에게 따로 써 보낼 필요가 없습니다. 여러분 자신이 서로 사랑하라고 하나님께 친히 가르침을 받았기 때문입니다.
10 for indeed you do it toward all the brothers who are in all Macedonia. But we exhort you, brothers, that you abound more and more;for indeed ye do it toward all the brethren that are in all Macedonia. But we exhort you, brethren, that ye abound more and more;실제로 여러분은 온 마케도니아에 있는 모든 형제에게 그렇게 사랑을 행하고 있습니다. 그러나 형제들이여, 우리는 여러분이 더욱더 그렇게 하기를 권면합니다.
11 and that you make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, even as we instructed you,and that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your hands, even as we charged you;또 우리가 여러분에게 명한 대로, 조용한 삶을 살기를 힘쓰고, 자기 일에 충실하며, 자기 손으로 일하기를 애쓰십시오.
12 that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and may have need of nothing.that ye may walk becomingly toward them that are without, and may have need of nothing.그리하여 밖에 있는 사람들에게 바르게 행하고, 아무 부족함이 없게 하십시오.
13 But we don’ t want you to be ignorant, brothers, concerning those who have fallen asleep, so that you don’ t grieve like the rest, who have no hope.But we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning them that fall asleep; that ye sorrow not, even as the rest, who have no hope.형제들이여, 우리는 이미 잠든 사람들에 관하여 여러분이 알지 못하기를 원하지 않습니다. 이는 여러분이 소망 없는 다른 사람들처럼 슬퍼하지 않게 하려는 것입니다.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also that are fallen asleep in Jesus will God bring with him.우리가 예수께서 죽으셨다가 다시 살아나신 것을 믿는다면, 마찬가지로 하나님께서도 예수 안에서 잠든 사람들을 그분과 함께 데려오실 것입니다.
15 For this we tell you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will in no way precede those who have fallen asleep.For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we that are alive, that are left unto the coming of the Lord, shall in no wise precede them that are fallen asleep.우리가 주의 말씀으로 여러분에게 이것을 말합니다. 주께서 오실 때까지 살아남아 있는 우리가, 결코 이미 잠든 사람들보다 앞서지 못할 것입니다.
16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with God’ s trumpet. The dead in Christ will rise first,For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven, with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first;주께서 친히 호령과 천사장의 음성과 하나님의 나팔 소리와 함께 하늘로부터 내려오실 것이니, 그리스도 안에서 죽은 사람들이 먼저 일어날 것입니다.
17 then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. So we will be with the Lord forever.then we that are alive, that are left, shall together with them be caught up in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.그 후에 살아남아 있는 우리가 그들과 함께 구름 속으로 끌려 올라가, 공중에서 주를 만나게 될 것입니다. 그리하여 우리는 영원히 주와 함께 있을 것입니다.
18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.Wherefore comfort one another with these words.그러므로 이 말씀들로 서로 위로하십시오.
