iz´har ( יצהר , yichār , "the shining one"): (1) The father of Korah (Numbers 16:1 ), descended from a Kohathite Levite of this name, whose descendants formed a family, in the tribe of Levi (Exodus 6:18 , Exodus 6:21; Numbers 3:19 , Numbers 3:27; 1 Chronicles 6:18 , 1 Chronicles 6:38 ). (2) A descendant of Judah, whose mother's name was Helah. the American Revised Version margin gives the name Zohar (1 Chronicles 4:7 ).
