Cherub (ISBE)

kē´rub ( כּרוּב , kerūbh , Χερούβ , Cheroúb , Χαρούβ , Charoúb ): A place in Babylonia from which people whose genealogies had fallen into confusion went up at the return from exile (Ezra 2:59; Nehemiah 7:61 ); unidentified. In 1 Esdras 5:36 we read "Charaathalan leading them, and Allar," a phrase that seems to have arisen through confusion of the names in the passages cited above.
