az -a -zı̄´a עזזיהוּ , ‛ăzazyāhū , "Yahweh is strong," or "strengthens"): (1) A L evite musician who participated in the services held on the return of the ark to Jerusalem (1 Chronicles 15:21 ). His name is omitted from the list in 1 Chronicles 15:18 . (2) Father of Hoshea, who was the leader of Ephraim at the time that David enumerated the people (1 Chronicles 27:20 ). (3) A L evite who had charge of the offerings brought to the temple in the days of Hezekiah (2 Chronicles 31:13 ).
