H O S E A. CHAP. VII. In this chapter we have, I. A general charge drawn up against Israel for those high crimes and misdemeanors by which they had obstructed the course of God's favours to them, Hosea 7:1 ; Hosea 7:2 . II. A particular accusation, 1. Of the court--the king, princes, and judges, Hosea 7:3-7 . 2. Of the country. Ephraim is here charged with conforming to the nations ( Hosea 7:8 ), senselessness and stupidity under the judgments of God ( Hosea 7:9-11 ), ingratitude to God for his mercies ( Hosea 7:13 ), incorrigibleness under his judgments ( Hosea 7:14 ), contempt of God ( Hosea 7:15 ), and hypocrisy in their pretences to return to him, Hosea 7:16 .
