The immorality of the Cretan professors rendered this a necessary requisite in one who was to be a reprover: and their unsoundness in doctrine also made needful great steadfastness in the faith ( Titus 1:9 ; Titus 1:13 ). having faithful children —that is, believing children. He who could not bring his children to faith, how shall he bring others? [BENGEL].
