18. Therefore hath he —"So then he hath." The result then is that He hath mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth —by judicially abandoning them to the hardening influence of sin itself ( Psalms 81:11 ; Psalms 81:12 ; Romans 1:24 ; Romans 1:26 ; Romans 1:28 ; Hebrews 3:8 ; Hebrews 3:13 ), and of the surrounding incentives to it ( Matthew 24:12 ; 1 Corinthians 15:38 ; 2 Thessalonians 2:17 ).
