5. thitherward —rather, "hitherward," Jeremiah's prophetical standpoint being at Zion. "Faces hitherward" implies their steadfastness of purpose not to be turned aside by any difficulties on the way. perpetual covenant —in contrast to the old covenant "which they brake" ( Jeremiah 31:31 ; Jeremiah 32:40 ).
