1 In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, Yahweh’s word came by Haggai the prophet, to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying,In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of Jehovah by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying,다리오 왕 둘째 해 여섯째 달 초하루에, 여호와의 말씀이 선지자 학개를 통해 스알디엘의 아들이며 유다 총독인 스룹바벨과, 여호사닥의 아들이며 대제사장인 여호수아에게 임하여 이르셨습니다.
2 “ This is what Yahweh of Armies says: These people say, ‘ The time hasn’t yet come, the time for Yahweh’s house to be built.’”Thus speaketh Jehovah of hosts, saying, This people say, It is not the time for us to come, the time for Jehovah’s house to be built."만군의 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. 이 백성이 말하기를 '여호와의 집을 지을 때가 아직 이르지 않았다'고 한다."
3 Then Yahweh’s word came by Haggai the prophet, saying,Then came the word of Jehovah by Haggai the prophet, saying,그때 여호와의 말씀이 선지자 학개를 통해 임하여 이르셨습니다.
4 “ Is it a time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, while this house lies waste?Is it a time for you yourselves to dwell in your ceiled houses, while this house lieth waste?"이 집은 황폐한 채로 있는데, 너희는 잘 꾸민 집에 살 때냐?
5 Now therefore this is what Yahweh of Armies says: ‘ Consider your ways.Now therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Consider your ways.그러므로 이제 만군의 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. 너희가 행한 길을 깊이 생각해 보아라.
6 You have sown much, and bring in little. You eat, but you don’t have enough. You drink, but you aren’t filled with drink. You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; and he who earns wages earns wages to put them into a bag with holes in it.’Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.너희가 많이 뿌렸으나 거둔 것은 적고, 먹어도 배부르지 않으며, 마셔도 흡족하지 않고, 옷을 입어도 따뜻하지 않으며, 품삯을 받는 자는 구멍 뚫린 주머니에 그 품삯을 넣는 셈이다."
7 “ This is what Yahweh of Armies says: ‘ Consider your ways.Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Consider your ways.만군의 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하십니다. "너희가 행한 길을 깊이 생각해 보아라.
8 Go up to the mountain, bring wood, and build the house. I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified,” says Yahweh.Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith Jehovah.산에 올라가 나무를 가져다가 이 집을 지어라. 그러면 내가 그것을 기뻐하고, 또 내가 영광을 받을 것이다." 여호와께서 말씀하십니다.
9 “ You looked for much, and, behold, it came to little; and when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why?” says Yahweh of Armies, “ Because of my house that lies waste, while each of you is busy with his own house.Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith Jehovah of hosts. Because of my house that lieth waste, while ye run every man to his own house."너희가 많은 것을 기대했으나 보아라, 그것이 적게 되었고, 너희가 집으로 거두어 들였으나 내가 그것을 불어 날려 버렸다. 어찌하여 그렇게 했느냐?" 만군의 여호와께서 말씀하십니다. "이는 내 집이 황폐한 채로 있는데도, 너희가 각자 자기 집 일에 바쁘기 때문이다.
10 Therefore for your sake the heavens withhold the dew, and the earth withholds its fruit.Therefore for your sake the heavens withhold the dew, and the earth withholdeth its fruit.그러므로 너희 때문에 하늘은 이슬을 내리지 않고, 땅은 그 소산을 내지 않는다.
11 I called for a drought on the land, on the mountains, on the grain, on the new wine, on the oil, on that which the ground produces, on men, on livestock, and on all the labor of the hands.”And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the grain, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labor of the hands.내가 이 땅과 산들 위에, 곡식과 새 포도주와 기름 위에, 땅이 내는 모든 것 위에, 사람과 가축과 손으로 수고한 모든 것 위에 가뭄을 불러들였다."
12 Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed Yahweh their God’s voice, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as Yahweh their God had sent him; and the people feared Yahweh.Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of Jehovah their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as Jehovah their God had sent him; and the people did fear before Jehovah.그러자 스알디엘의 아들 스룹바벨과 여호사닥의 아들이며 대제사장인 여호수아와 남은 모든 백성이, 그들의 하나님 여호와의 목소리와 여호와께서 보내신 선지자 학개의 말에 순종했습니다. 그리고 백성이 여호와를 두려워했습니다.
13 Then Haggai, Yahweh’s messenger, spoke Yahweh’s message to the people, saying, “ I am with you,” says Yahweh.Then spake Haggai Jehovah’s messenger in Jehovah’s message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith Jehovah.그때 여호와의 사자 학개가 여호와의 말씀을 백성에게 전하여 이르기를 "내가 너희와 함께 있다" 하고 여호와께서 말씀하셨습니다.
14 Yahweh stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and worked on the house of Yahweh of Armies, their God,And Jehovah stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work on the house of Jehovah of hosts, their God,여호와께서 유다 총독인 스알디엘의 아들 스룹바벨의 마음과, 여호사닥의 아들이며 대제사장인 여호수아의 마음과, 남은 모든 백성의 마음을 감동시키셨습니다. 그리하여 그들이 와서 그들의 하나님, 만군의 여호와의 집에서 일을 시작했으니,
